estimation : rounding number to the nearest tenth, hundreth, etc. to simplify math and make adding, multiplying, division and subtraction easier
step1: find the underlined number and classify what space the number is in (one, tens, hundered, tenths, hundreths, thousandths, etc)
step2: round the number by looking at the number to the right of it. if it is 5+ it goes up 4- it goes down
its used in everyday life when you use money and time
step3: if there are any numbers after the underlined diget make them into zeros
step4: now you have your number! congrats you've succesfully used the setimation process
if you're going up 1->2 2->3 3->4 4->5 5->6 6->7 7->8 8->9 9->0 (add a one to the number to the left
if you're going down 1->0 2->1 3->2 4->3 5->4 6->5 7->6 8->7 9->8
