Accomplishments/Bio Raphael was a famed artist of the Italian Renaissance. He followed the footsteps of his predecors Leonardo da Vinci and Michaelangelo, and study both of their works. Raphael was respected by all around him and was even asked to paint and oversee work on the Vatican. Raphael was taught how to paint early on in his life by his father. Later, he traveled to Florence and learned how to use light, shade, and anatomy to his advantage. Muscle definition, and personality are signature styles of the great painters technique.
Family Relations Father was also an artist. Mother died when he was 7. Raphael orphaned at age 11. Became Apprentice to Pietro Perugino.

Significance Today Raphael's work is still studied today. He is often considered better then both Michaelangelo and Leonardo Da Vinci. His death brought about the end of the High Renaissance.
