Romulus and Remus
*Romulus' and Remus' birth mother, Rhea Silvia*
When they became young men, they decided to find a city. After they studied birds, signs in the sky, and the stars, they decided each of the twins would be in charge of the new city. But there was a problem; one side was bigger than the other!
Other versions of the myth say that Remus disappeared during a storm.
Romulus was angry with Remus for coming onto his side of the city, so Romulus killed Remus. Romulus went on to build the city, which was named Rome after him. Romulus and Remus were printed onto Roman coins, usually as babies drinking the milk from the she-wolf. The most common of these are the small bronze coins issued during what is known as the Constantine commemorative period, 330-346 AD.

Since then, they were marked down in history, as the real founders of Rome.
Romulus and Remus were the twin sons of Mars (a Roman war god) and Rhea Sylvia.
At birth, Romulus and Remus were set afloat the Tiber River (like the story of Moses). The basket came to shore at the grotto Lupercal under a fig tree called Ruminal. The twins were found there and taken care of, by a she-wolf and later raised by the shepard family of Faustulus and his wife Acca Larentia.
The signs in the sky determined that Romulus section would be twice the size of Remus’ section. Romulus, using a plow pulled by a white cow and a white bull, cut a furrow to mark the boundary of his section. Remus was angry with Romulus for getting the bigger side, so he jumped over the furrow into his brothers section.
Romulus took Hersilia as his wife. He wanted to enlarge his empire; he allowed exiles and refugees, homicides and runaway slaves to populate his empire. The shortage of women he solved by stealing Sabine women whom he invited to a festival. After a few wars, the Sabines agreed to accept Romulus as their king. Upon his death he was taken to the heavens by his father Mars. He is later revered as the god Quirinus.
