She met him one September night Out with a friend, nothing unusual, Just a little after the sunset’s light When the darkness made the evening cool. She never knew he’d become The memory she wishes she could forget, The memory that just won’t let go.
She didn’t even give him a second glance; He was so hard, so cold. Until a week later came a second chance, And her heart took hold. She never knew he’d become The memory she wishes she could forget, The memory that just won’t let go.
They were inseparable the next moon; They talked night and day. She hoped without end to see him soon, Hoping always for longer to stay. She never knew he’d become The memory she wishes she could forget, The memory that just won’t let go.
A frigid October night came along. He lost her faith, but not her heart. But he felt he was so wrong, She’d do better if they were apart. She never knew he’d become The memory she wishes she could forget, The memory that just won’t let go.
A few nights later, wishing he could hold on tight, He let her go, and she cried through his guise. All night he stared at the moon’s light, And silently wiped the tears from his eyes. She’d never know she’d become The memory he wishes he could forget, The memory that just won’t let go.
The Memory
