History of Cobalt: Cobalt was discovered in 1735 by a man named Georg Brant. Cobalt got its name from the German word Kobald. Kobald means evil spirit and miners named it that because it's bad for their health and very hard to mine.

Most Common Uses: Cobalt is mixed with other metals to create Turbines that generate electricity. Cobalt is also used in making electric motors and generators. Cobalt can be used to color things like glass, glazes, cosmetics, paints, rubber, ink, and pottery.
