Phulan
Phulan is shabanu’s sister. Phulan was supposed to get married with Hamir, but Nazir killed him, leaving her a widow at the age of 14. Phulan was very exited because she had a huge dowry. Now she is very sad and shocked. Phulan is not as mature as Shabanu and sometimes Shabanu acts more mature than Phulan. We see this at the incident were they find the dead boy in the desert. Shabanu is the one that insists that they go help him. In this case, she acted like the older sister
Gulluband is shabanu’s camel and best friend. He and our main character are very close and love each other a lot. When gulluband left, shabanu was very depressed and sad because he was her closest friend. She felt like a kid when their lolypop gets taken away. She was so busy with him, that she didn’t really have any time for herself or to make friends. Gulluband was so pretty that the interested buyers wanted to pay more than all the camels, just for him. Dad promissed not to sell him, but he did shattering Shabanu’s heart.

She is a middle age woman alone in the world with 4 sons. She is not like all the women she is independent and rigid like a stone and totally proud of that, she loves her sons more than anything in the world and she will do everything she can for them.
