Giant Pandas!
Pandas live in clusters of thick bamboo in the forests of China. They can live about 20 years in the wild. Pandas are herbavores whose diet consists of mostly bamboo. A panda spends about 14 hours per day eating! They do not hibernate. Pandas reach sexual maturity between 4-8 years until 20 years of age.The breeding season for pandas between March and May. The female goes into her estrous cycle which lasts for 2-3 days once per year. Up to 5 males can compete for 1 female. The male with the highest rank wins her over. The gestation period is 95-160 days! Pandas lose there interest in mating when in captivity.
I chose to do my final project for Biology on Giant Pandas because I think they are very cute and interesting. Their Latin scientific name is Ailuropoda melanoleuca which means cat-foot black and white.

The Giant Panda lives in China. The capital of China is Beijing. China has a communist government and its biggest export is machinery and other transport equipment. China is famous for its technology. China has a long winding coastline with harbors and beaches and mountains that are dreamlike. They either have a very warm climate or wet monsoons. In the winter it is cold and dry. In the summer it is warm and moist. Culture traditions vary greatly between towns, cities and provinces. Chinas art is very intresting. There is almost always a story behind them.
