Hatshepsut
Curcumstances There were many curcumstances that allowed Hatshepsut the opportunity to take the throne. The first was that her two brothers died. This left the throne deserted and Tuthmose had no male heir until Tuthmose II, who was Hatshepsut's half-brother and husband. Even though Tuthmose II ruled for 3 to 4 years, he was mostly controled by his wife, Hatshepsut. Before Tuthmose II's death, Hatshepsut had not bore children with him. Therefore Tuthmose III, the son of Tuthmose II and Isis, was given the right to rule, but Tuthmose was too young to rule, and this is when Hatshepsut finally gained control over the kingdom.
Achievements Hatshepsut definitely proved her soveigenty. She as pharaoh lead expeditions to the land of Punt, present day Somalia, in search of Ivory, animals, spices, gold, and aromatic trees that Egyptians tresured. She left behind more monuments and works of art than any ohter Egyptian Queen.
Political Strategy Hatshepsut had two political stratigies. Her first was that she was the favorite child of a popular pharaoh. She claimed to be handpicked by her father, above her two brothers and half-brother. In her temple there is a written passage that says, "I will make you to be the first of all living creatures, you will rise as king of Upper and of Lower Egypt, as your father Amon, who loves you, did ordain". Then her second political strategy was to say that instead of acually being the daughter of Tuthmose she claimed on her tomb she was the daughter of the god Amon. These are the words enscribed on her tomb, "Amon took the form of the noble King Tuthmose and found the queen sleeping in her room. When the pleasant odurs that proceeded from him announced his presence she woke. he gave her his heart and showed himself in his godlike splendour. When he approached the queen she wept for joy at his strength and beauty and he gave her his love... "
Relation Hatshepsut was the daughter of Tuthmose I and Aahmes. She also had two brothers. Out of her and her two brothers, Hatshepsut was the favorite. Tuthmose also had another son with Moutnofrit named Tuthmose II Hatshepsut's half brother, and husband. Hatshepsut and Tuthmose II didn't have any sons, but Tuthmose II had a son with Isis who was named Tuthmose III. He was Hatshepsut's half-son and half-nephew.
Controling Egypt Hatshepsut wasn't allowed to take the throne right away because she was a woman, but she was definitely not a passive person. She slowly started to gain control of the kingdom. She was in the right position to take control of the kingdom, but they tried everything to make sure that she would not gain control. They even tried letting her nephew/step-son rule, but since he was too young, she was allowed to rule as Queen Dowager. Because she was the daughter of a popular pharaoh and the favorite of her siblings, she was able to get enough followers to take complete control over the kingdom as pharaoh.
