The Buddhist gave the Indians the idea that they can practice their own religion. They wanted people to learn that the could do without the help of a priest or Brahman. The Brahmans had to much much power because the people had to rely on them in order to follow the hindu religion.
One of India's contrubitions is that they had a running water and sewer system. The sewer system made it so that they had running water and they did not have waste and by products in their cities.
