BLACK DEATH
SYMPTOMS: Painful swellings found on armpits, legs and groin. Fever Vomiting bleeding in the lungs muscle pains
About the three plaques: The three plaques were transmitted in different ways. The Septicemic and Bubonic plague were transmitted with direct contact with a flea, but the Pneumonic plague was transmitted through airborne drops of saliva coughed up by Bubonic or Septicemic infected humans.
The Black Death was one of the worlds worst natural disasters in history.. The plaque swept over Europe and killed one-third of the population. The primary culprits in transmitting this dissease were the Oriental Rat Fleas carried on the back of black rats.
It is believed that the plaque started in Asia and moved west with the army and traders. It was carried on trade routes through Italy, France, Germany, England and Denmark.
Economy: The economy was most effected during the Black Death. When the plaque hit towns, many of the skillfull workers died. People that had skills became ever more valuable than the rich. The society structure began to change, giving the Serfs and Peasants more say and higher wages.
Religous: The most affected from the plaque was the Christian church. The church promised a cure and treatment, and explained how it was God's will for them to be healed. This did not happen. After the plaque, angry villagers revolted against the church.
Political: The Black death did not have a perniment affect on politics, but it did affect it. The Hundred Years' War was stopped because so many soliders died, but started soon after the plaque was over. Parliaments were adjourned, and many Kings and lesser nobals were killed by the Black Death.
