THE ARCTIC FOX:-Make their own homes in small burrows in frost-free ground.-They are scavengers-Follows polar bears or other predators and eats the remains they leave behind.-Hbout 10-16 inches long and weighs about 6-12 pounds-Hair is white in the winter and gray in the summer-Its fur conserves heat-Male and female sexually mature at age one.-Mating season is may through february-Number of pups born are 6-19, they are 2 ounces and born blind.-Average life span is 15 years.-An arctic fox is a solitary animal.-omnivore, eats brirds,eggs,small mammals,fish,berries,seaweed,insects, and larvae.-There are several thousand arctic foxes left in the wild.-The Arctic fox is not endangered world wide.-Two arctic fox populations are endangered, One in Russia has been reduced to around 90 animals.
