Trans-Atlantic Slave Trade
The motives for the slave trade came after the Spanish had conquered and settled in the New World. Once the need for labor became too great the settlers needed people to work for them, because they didn’t want to do the work themselves. The first source of Labor that the settlers tried were the natives that they had conquered, but the natives were not the best at being field workers. Also the Spainsh made a law forbiding the abuse of natives. So then the settlers turned to Africa, who they believed were immune to tropical disease and trained for manual labor.
The Trans-Atlantic Slave Trade started around 1530 after the Spainish outlawing the abuse of natives. Merchants would go to Africa, from Europe, trade with the local kings for slaves and then take the slaves to the New World. In the New World the slaves would be sold to settlers so that they may work the land.

Motives
The short term effects of this act was benifical to mostly one group of people, the white settlers, but also had a few benefits for the natives. As for the Africans the slave trade was devestating. Some of the effects included... -Less work for the natives because of the outlawing of their abuse -Deaths of many Africans -Increased wealth of European countries and Merchants -Increased production levels and outputs of plantations
The long term effects of the slave trade became less and less benefital as the years went on because of the changing of societies and the increased amount of new technology. Some of the effects of the trade over the long term was... -Increased amount of Africans in the Americas -New blendings of races -Oppression in the African societies
Short Term and Long Term Effects Of Slave Trade
Conditions For The Travlers
For most of the slaves travling to the New World this was the first time they had been at sea and it was not a pleasent experience for them. In order to get to the boats most of the time the slaves had to walk in many miles across the desert in shackles. Once at port the slaves were sent to cramped holding cells to wait till the next ship arrived to take them to the Americas. After broading the ship and setting sail the ride was rough. People were chained together under the decks and many died of disease. Some even killed themselves to rid themself of the missery. There were also sometimes muntiny on the ship in attempt to sail back to Africa. When a ship arrived in port ussally most of the ship's prissoners had died and the rest were sent to be sold as salves.
