Chapter 2:Reunion

It was a little while after we all reunited with each other.Since it was almost Valentine's Day,Alice insisted we do something "special".I shivered at the thought of her planning a party inviting a bunch of people that I wasn' t ready to meet.But as it was,Alice seemed to have persuaded me into agreeing. "Come on,Bella.It's going to fun." "No,Alice.Can't we stay home?" "Well,that's no fun at all.It's only a party,Bella." "Can't we go on a vacation or something?On Valentines Day?" Alice looked at me,dumfounded by my statement.A short moment later,she caught herself. "We're going on a field trip...AFTER the party." I groaned at the remark.Somehow,I couldn't persuade her into canceling the party.I wasn't that much of a party person. "There's not going to be that much.Mike and Angela are coming,Tyler Crowley and Jessica and Lauren.See,not that much,it's only a reunion." She said something else,but her voice was drowned out by an engine.I turned slowly,and a few feet away I saw Charlie's police cruiser.Charlie had permission to baby-sit Renessmee for the weekend.She was in the back seat of his car,smiling at me.Alice left the room in a rush. "Mommy!" "Renessmee!" "Bella!" The three of us were hugging and kissing each other.It's been forever since I saw my precious daughter.Renessmee looked a little taller than before.When Edward and I had her,she was no ordinary vampire...or human,to be exact.She had a rare and incredible power that no one could have.Her growth and skill seemed to have improved over weeks,not years. "Bella,honey!How are you?" "I'm fine,really.So did you two have fun?" "Yeah,we sure did.Apparentally we had Sue Clearwater cooking for us.My cooking is a bit rusty.As always." "Next time,leave the cooking to the real professionals,Dad." "Yeah,I might burn the whole kitchen." Renessmee twitched in my grasp.I could tell she was hungry,according to her thoughts.They were somewhat smug. "Anyways,your mom sent you a present.She wanted to be here,but Phil has to stay in the hospital for one more week." "I understand.Tell her I said thanks." "Got it,Bells." His attension focused on Edward,standing there on the driveway.I didn't hear him come in.Edward seemed calm.He loped to hug Renessmee. "Hello,Edward." "Good afternoon,Mr Swan." "I see you came back from your trip to Alaska.How was it?" "Just nice.The weather conditions and freezing cold are nice this time of year." I saw he was being sarcastic. "Sounds fascinating.Anyways,what are you guys doing for Valentines Day?" I felt myself shocked,unaware he would ask THAT question.My nervous glance attracted Charlie.Automatically,I opened my mouth."We're having a party tonight.Then,we're going a trip someplace." "Nice.I have to help Jacob's dad rid the house of rats.They keep getting in there for some reason.Here I am,raving about my Valentines Day.Oh,Bella,aren't you going to open your present?It would a waste not to." "My bad.I forgot." My fingers caressed the small box.The gift was wrapped in fine wrapping paper,and attacted on the bottom was Renee's letter.Carefully,I unwrapped it.What I saw was amazing.The gift was a necklace,stringed with diamonds,rubies and sapphires.This truly was a magnificent present to give a girl. "This is...beautiful.I've never seen anything like this." Charlie smiled."She knew you would like it." I blushed."Of course she did." "Well,I gotta go.Take care,honey." "I will." As Charlie drove off,I couldn't help myself not looking at the necklace.Renee was a jewelry admirer,not me.But now,I took a interest in the necklace.Edward and Renessmee slithered to my side. "That looks very...elequent." "It is.It was a good idea for Renee to send me this." Renessmee held out her hands,I gave the necklace to Edward.Alice creeped out from the living room. "Cool necklace,Bella.Did Renee send this?" "Yes.It's very nice." Alice smiled a wry smile."Nice to wear to the party." I groaned.Was there any way to convince her to cancel it?
