Franklin Carmichael was the youngest of the group of seven.
Carmichael was born May.4 1890 in Orillia, Ontario, Canada.

He joined Tom Thomson and other painters who were training.
In 1913 he went to Belgium to study art.
He arrived in Toronto when he was 20.
In 1911, he was hired. The head designer he was working for was J.E.H MacDonald.
He got married in 1915 and spent much time with his family.
When Carmichael returned to Canada after World War 1 he painted watercolours and oils of Northen Ontario Landscapes.
He was influenced by Tom Thomson and Arthur Lismer.
His favortie places to paint was: Georgian Bay, North Shore of Lake Superior, La Cloche Hills, and the site of his family cottage.
