The National Voting Right of 1965 outlawed discriminatory voting practice that had been responsible for the wide spread disenfranchisement of African Americans
On July 2,1964 Johnson signed the civil rights act of 1964 -which prohibited discrimination becasue of race, religion, national origin, and gender. But this didn't really change anything. SO in 1965 the Voting Rights Act of 1965 was created to stop the continued discrimination.
'It is the single most Important piece of civil rights legislation, other than the constitutional amendments, in the history of the country."'' So says Atlanta Mayor Maynard Jackson, referring to the Voting Rights Act of 1965. This is a very strong way to describ the Voting Act but it had a very strong affect
Before the Voting Rights Act people would go to Voting trials . The Votign trials would be time consuming, require a lot of man hours, and were very slow to resolve.
The Voting Rights Act of 1965 like the 15th amendment, prohibited states from imposing any voting qualification or prerequisite to voting or standards, practice or procuder.
