Charlie Parker
Groovin' High
Charlie Parker was born on August 29th, 1920 in Kansas. He played the alto and the tenor saxophone during his career. He died at the age of 34 in New York City. Parker made an icon for himself with his inspiring Jazz Solo's, inspiring musicians around the world to use him as their idol as they worked to become better Jazz Musicians.

Parker began his life in New York City working for $9 a week cleaning dishes. He then began to pursue a career in music, where he eventually soared to the top. He died of a Heroin addiction at the age of 34. After he died graffiti appeared accross New York City reading 'The Bird Lives.'
In 1974 won a Grammy award for best performance by a soloist. As well as winning 4 Grammy Hall of Fame Awards in the 1940's-50's
