Branzburg v. Hayes
Branzburg was allowed to watch two men making hashish from marijuana, and later when he was called to court refused to give the Judge, Hayes, the names of the men.
The Supreme Court was divided over this case, but eventually ruled against a Branzburg's claim that the First Amendment gave him the right to withhold information from the judge.
This affected the interpretation of the 1st Amendment because after the case, the state made several laws that protected the reporter's rights to keep sources confidential.
