Worthy Causes

Through volunteer labor and donations of money and materials, Habitat builds and rehabilitates simple, decent houses alongside our homeowner (partner) families. Habitat is not a giveaway program. In addition to a down payment and monthly mortgage payments, homeowners invest hundreds of hours of their own labor (sweat equity) into building their Habitat house and the houses of others. Habitat houses are sold to partner families at no profit and financed with affordable loans. The homeowners’ monthly mortgage payments are used to build still more Habitat houses. http://www.habitat.org/

Different than the other organizations, Live Earth S.O.S. does not want donations or volunteers in the traditional sense. What they want is for each individual to recognize that the little things matter. They want us to change our habits and our consumption. To pay attention to how what we do affects the environment. The mission of the SOS campaign is to empower individuals to change their consumer behaviors and motivate corporations and political leaders to enact decisive measures to combat the climate crisis. The message of S.O.S. is that everyone, everywhere can and must "Answer the Call" to solve the climate crisis. http://whyyouarewrong.blogspot.com/2007/07/worthy-causes.html
