When Was It? First identified in November 2002, but it did not become a pandemic until February 2003. It was contained later in 2003.
What Caused It? SARS is caused by a coronavirus
What Are The Symptoms? It begins with a high fever, but someone may also have a head ache, an overall feeling of discomfort, or body aches. Many people may also have mild respiratory symptoms.. Diarrhea and/or a dry cough are also common. Most people develop pneumonia.
Where Was It? SARS originated in southern China then spread to Hong Kong. From Hong Kong, it spread to 29 countries/regions on 5 continents before it was contained.
