The Lovely Bones
By: Alice Sebold
The Lovely Bones was a novel written by Alice Sebold. The book is about a young girl named Susie Salmon ''like the fish'' and her family. She was a normal teenage girl. At the time, child abductions weren't huge issues like today. She was coming home from the mall when her neighbor from accros the street lures her into a shed he built underground. She was murdered on December 6th, 1973 and thrown into a safe in the murderers house. After her parents report her as missing child, her father searches everywhere to find her. He begins to get signs and signals from his daughter who's in between heaven and Earth. Her brother can hear her sometimes and occasionally sees her. Susies sister finds the evidence the family needs to put away a murderer that has been killing children for many years in different cities. Susie is guided through the in between world to help her father and family to catch her killer.
The book was written in the view of Susie Salmon It was a persom vs person conflict.
Jack Salmon was another main character. He stopped at nothing to find the person who took his daughter away from him. He took many risk to find out who took Susie. He was brave and had a small temper when he found out who kidnapped Susie. I think I'm some what like him. If that were my child, I'd most likely do the same thing. However, I wouldn't be so calm about what happened, even though he doesn't know what happened to Susie that night.
