Intro Paragraph The Egg Drop Project was designed to teach the class about momentum, impact time, and impulse. The class built egg cases and dropped them off of the bleachers containing an egg to see if they would survive. Each case used different materials to increase the impact time of impact, thus decreasing the force of impact.

EGG DROP EGGSTRAVAGANZA
By Brian M.
My Egg Case My Egg case was a box, within a box, surrounded by sponges and bubble wrap, inside of another box made of corrugated cardboard. This design absorbed a lot of impact. In my opinion, it was a very good design for an egg case.
Momentum: Momentum is inertia in motion, or mass in motion. p=mv Impulse: Impulse is a force exerted over a certain period of time.
When the cases hit the ground, they will all have about the same change in momentum because they will be dropped from the same height. They will all have about he same mass. All of the egg cases will have about the same impulse because they will be dropped from the same hieght and they will be hitting the same material (grass) when they land.

If all of the egg cases have the same impulse, what varied the cases? The materials used in each egg case varied a lot. The goal of the egg drop was to increase the time of impact, thus decreasing the force exerted on the egg itself. What happens when the time of impact is increased, is that the force is distributed throughout the box and its materials.
