PITTSBURGH'S ROAD TO VICTORY In the first round Pitt knocks off the 16 seed E. Tennessee St. by a blowout score of 83-59. The second round was just as easy as they demolished the number 8 seeded team in the East, Oklahoma State by a score of 86-71. They advanced to the Sweet Sixteen where they meet the number 4th seed, Xavier. They win with ease 79-65. With that victory the Panthers' move onto the Elite Eight and play the Duke Blue Devils ranked the number 2 seed in the East. Pitt started out strong but Duke kept playing. The Panthers' win it in overtime, 87-82. They go on to play the number 1 seed in the South, North Carolina, in the Final Four. It was a close game from start to finish, but Pitt pulled out victorious once again with the final at 74-68. Pitt advances to the CHAMPIONSHIP where they meet the 1 seed of the West, the Connecticut Huskies. The game was a real nail-biter with 18 lead changes and 8 ties. But once again, the Panthers' pull out a win in overtime, 71-67, beating the odds. Most experts agreed that UConn would pull out victorious.
