Scarlet Fever
Prevention: As with the common cold, prevention is the best treatment. Make sure to wash your hands fequently and cover your mouth when you cough or sneeze in order to stay as germ-free as possible.
Treatment: The doctor can perscribe an antibiotic and may suggest over the counter pain releavers. The patient also needs a lot of rest and fluids in order to get better.
Symptoms: The main symptom of scarlet fever is a rash, starting in the chest area but then could spread through the entire body. This rash lasts for 2-7days. When its gone, the skin on the tips of the fingers and toes will peel. Other symptoms include: - Flushed complection - Fever of 101F or higher - Sore throat - Strawberry-looking tongue with a white coating. - body/head aches
This is a cocci shaped bacteria in the group A Streptococcus, which is the same bacteria that causes strep.
Scarlet Fever is a bacterial disease associated with strep throat. It is transmited through droplets in the air from coughing/sneezing and through direct contact.
