Gemma has been stolen. She has been taken away from everything she loves. Taken to the desert, to the middle of nowhere. And she is expected to love her captor, for he thinks he saved her. But the desert is to powerful for her to handle.
Stolen
This is a powerful book that brings you into the complicated relationship between a person and their captor. It digs deep to create an interesting and believable story that is creative and moving. Lucy Christopher has created an amazing story in stolen, as the plot is a steady pace and keeps the reader wondering it also draws you in so that you feel like you are part of the story.
My favourite character in this book was Gemma as she was a strong character who didn't give up even when she was in an incredibly difficult situation, she also decided to tell the truth about her captor and how he saved her life even though he knew he would be caught in the process, instead of saying what she was expected to say. She never gave in.
I would recommend this book to 12-20 year olds as younger readers may not understand the complexities of the relationships in this story and older readers may find the wording too simple. I really enjoyed this book and I hope that Lucy Christopher comes out with many other brilliant books.
