BEGIN WITH THE END IN MIND
To begin with the end in mind means deciding what your values are and setting goals for yourself. Think of yourself as a driver and your life is the car, decide where you want to go, and come up with a plan to get there. You don't have to know exactly what you want to be when you grow up or who you will marry. Just decide in what direction you would like your life to go and make smart decisions into the right direction. Everyday you begin with the end in mind without even realizing it. Before you can build a house you come up with a blueprint, before you bake a cake you look at the recipe. It's a part of life. It's important to have the end in mind because the paths you choose now in life can affect you forever.
What does it mean to "begin with the end in mind?"
The paths you take now will effect you forever and shape the person you will be in the future. When making decisions think to your self "Will making this decision effect my future life?" You may find yourself coming across these questions throughout life. These questions (or crossroads) are the paths to your future. - Will I do drugs or drink alcohol? - Will I go to college? - Will I join a gang? - Will I have a job? - Who will I date? Ect. Before coming up with answers to these questions think about the outcome. Always remember that you can choose the paths you take but you cannot choose what consequences come with them.
The Crossroads of Life
A mission statement is a statement about your goals or what you want to accomplish. Here are some examples: - I will have confidence in myself and others. - I will be kind, courteous and respectful to all. - I will never take the simple things in life for granted.
Make a Personal Mission Statement
If your friends are doing something you know is not right don't be a follower and join! THINK ABOUT THE CONSEQUENCES.
DON'T be a FOLLOWer
