- Born in Firenze, Italy, May 12 1820 - Born into a wealthy and rich family - Was a pioneering nurse - At that time the hospital was a place where only poor people went - Known as 'the woman woth the lamp' because of something that happened during the Crimean War - A voice from God - Met Queen Victoria twice - Helped injured during the Crimean War - Died August 10, 1910, 90 years old
THE CRIMEAN WAR The Crimean War was a war between Russia and France, The United Kingdom, the Kingdom of Sardinia and the Ottoman Empire. The war started in 1853 and did not end until 1855, but a pease-treatment was not signed before March 30 1856. Approximately 1 02 000 people died during the war. Florence Nightingale was a nurse, and helped the injured.
