If I had a wish;
I would wish to be a spoon.
So you can put me in a slingshot;
And then toss me to the moon.
And as I fly;
I will sing with a bird..
And she will tell me secrets
that I have never heard.
She'll say "You don't need wings to travel real far,
All you really need is a steady beating heart;
You don't need legs or a bike or a car..
A mind filled with dreams and a brain filled with smarts."
The birds little secret will bring tears to my eyes.
And I will thank the little birdy and say goodbye to the sky.
As I exit planet earth and enter airless night.
The moon straight ahead,
So round and white.
I will ask a passing star if I could hitch a ride.
He'll smile so bright,
I will almost go blind.
So I'll hop on his back and he'll ask my name.
I'll say, "My.Name.Is.Spoon."
And he'll say, "Wow! Mine's the same!"
I will tell him the secret that the birdy once told me;
And his smile will grow brighter as confesses to me his dream.
He'll say "I have a wife and she's completely blind,
but I will always love her despite her lack of sight.
My wife and I have always shared the same dream..
And that is to travel galaxies
So we can meet new stars and try out new things,
and I will describe to her the beauty of everything I see."
When we make it to the moon, I will thank him for the ride.
He'll say "you are very welcome!" And then he'll say..
"....goodbye.."
I will look at the moon,
And I'll say,"One more thing, newfound friend.."
