What can be done if a person is diagnosed with the disorder: Educate yourself, child and those around your child (such as teachers) a supportive home and school enviorment where tics are accepted and accommodated.
Overview Of Disorder: Tourette syndrome is a neurological (brain) condition that usually begins in childhood. It causes a child to make sounds or words (vocal tics) and body movement (motor tics) that are beyond his or her control.
How common is it: 1 To 10 in 1,000 children.
What Happens to the person: They have tics they twitch and blurt out words. no physical effects can be seen.
Genetic Problems: When his or her ADHA and the OCD are altered they may get tourettes syndrome or other dieases.
Who Genetically is the carrier: The Mother- If she suffered from sever nausea and vomiting during the first trimester of pregnacy than there is a chance their child could have tourette syndrome.
