Ever compare life to that of a butterfly? Consider a caterpiller....small, not capible of much.....just like a human early in life. Now picture a caterpiller growing, exploring life....& the human stage that relates to it. Eventually the caterpiller is ready for more.... but before it can be free, it needs to get to the top of the tree. From experience, teenage years can be like getting to the top of the tree -- so much to figure out, so much to overcome. When it reaches the top, it wraps itself in a cacoon -- so much like the teenager who reaches the top, but isn't quite ready to be independant. Eventually, the cacoon breaks open.....and the caterpiller spreads it's wings. At this same point, the teenager is ready to spread their wings & explore the world. As for the caterpiller....well, it's not so reconizable any more. Now it is time for it to be free. It has reached the top of the tree, overcome the obsticles in its path, earned its wings, and is ready to fly away, to be free. It is the same with the teenager. They have overcome the obsticles set in their path, they have reached the top of the tree, grown their wings, and now.....a beautiful butterfly, ready to see the world from above. Sometimes climbing the tree can be slow, sometimes it seems like the top is so far away, some places will be harder to cross than others, sometimes it will just plain HURT. But....... if you never lose faith, never give up......soon enough you will reach the top & all the pain from the upward climb will be washed away. You will have earned your wings, and the world will be yours to grace with your beauty. Remember........Until you spread your wings, you'll have no idea how far you can fly. All this from the experience of one who dreaded climbing the tree....hated change, hated heartbreak, couldn't figure out why I needed to climb the tree, why couldn't I grow wings without the climb...... and I finally realized why. Believe me, the climb is worth it. Wings don't work if you're on the ground. So climb the tree.....grow your wings.....spread them & fly.....if you made it to the top, you deserve your freedom..
