Did you know girls have a higher risk of knee injuries?
Tearing of the ACL can be caused by the use of ankle braces, joint laxity, & hamstring-quadriceps strength imbalance.
Girl's basketball & soccer have the highest percent of knee injuries.
Next, the doctor will put the graph in place. They will then secure it with two screws. The screws could be made of plastic dissovable material, metal, or a calcium based substance that will eventually turn into bone
Then the doctor will drill a whole through the knee joint to the top of the tibia, then another tunnel will be drilled from the knee joint to the femur.
Then the doctor will 'harvest' the graph, either thawing out a donor one, removing one of the many hamstring tendons, or removing a third of the muscle that flows over the knee cap.
First, the doctor will insert a arthoscope to confirm that the ACL is torn & check for damage to the meniscus, cartilage, & other parts of the knee.
