West Nile virus
The West Nile virus is carried by mosquitoes. This virus is very harmful and can be deadly. It might seem like the flu at first, but it is more proin to killing a person than the common flu.
The west nile virus is many infected through humans. scientist suspect thar the WNV (West Nile virus) can spread through blood transfusions, and organ trasnplants but for a chance of it actually happening is very small.
Serious Symptoms-About one in 150 people infected with WNV will develop severe illness. The severe symptoms can include high fever, headache, neck stiffness, stupor, disorientation, coma, tremors, convulsions, muscle weakness, vision loss, numbness and paralysis. Milder Symptoms-Up to 20 percent of the people who become infected have symptoms such as fever, headache, and body aches, nausea, vomiting, and sometimes swollen lymph glands or a skin rash on the chest, stomach and back. Symptoms can last for as short as a few days, No Symptoms-(about 4 out of 5) who are infected with WNV will not show any symptoms at all.
The WNV kills about 50-100 roughly a year. It is a bout a 3 out of a scale of 1-10(10 being the most killing and destruction). There is no specific treatment for West Nile Virus infection. In more serious cases, treatment may involve hospitalization where patients can receive supportive treatment including intravenous fluids, respiratory support, prevention of secondary infections, and nursing care.
