I Am By Carla Abawag
I am a girl I am an only child, an "unica hija" I am a rainbow A different color to express my emotions I am what I wonder What was left behind in the past What waits for us in the future I am what I see The stars twinkling Flickering like lightbulbs that need to be replaced The full moon piercing The darkness of the nightsky I am what I hear Thoughts in my head Whispering a mixture of words and numbers as I do my homework Music in my heart Streaming into my ears through my headphones Blocking out every other sound except for the Honking cars polluting the air and my ears I am what I dream about Swimming like a fish in the ocean Soaring like a bird across the sky Trudging like a bear through the snow Blurry visions that end up being forgotten when I wake up I am what I love The sound the ball makes when it sinks in the hoop The gentle roll of the waves on the white sand Gift of music Loyalty of friendship Comfort of family I am what I am, What I wonder, What I remember, What I see, What I hear, What I dream, What I love, I am me
I like this poem because I think it has a lot of good descriptions. Some poetic devices used in this poem are repetition and metaphors.
