Facts The Boiling Point - 2471 degrees celcius Beryllium belongs to the Alkaline Earth Metals family. The Melting Point - 1287 degrees celcius The Density - 1.848 g/cm3 Beryllium was discovered by a french chemist by the name of Vaquelin, in the oxide form in 1798. He actually found the element when he was working with emeralds!
Beryllium (Be) By Caroline Baxter
I, Vaquelin, am the one who discovered Beryllium! Beryllium is found in some 30 mineral species, the most important of which are bertrandite, beryl, chrysoberyl, and phenacite. Aquamarine and emerald are precious forms of beryl. Beryllium minerals are found in the U.S., Brazil, Russia, Kazakhstan, and elsewhere.

Beryllium is used in the making of spacecrafts, missles, and aircrafts. Beryllium alloys are used as a light-weight structural material for high-speed aircraft, missiles, spacecraft, and communication satellites. Another use for beryllium is in x-ray machines, for detection, and diagnostic. Sometimes it is used in computer equipment.
