One single division makes just two cells.
One single division makes 4 cells.
Genes cross over during meiosis.
Meiosis goes through metaphase, anaphase, and telophase twice so there can be four haploid cells. Mitosis goes through each of the stages just one time to make two diploid cells.
Makes sex cells.
Makes all cells but sex cells.
Meiosis makes haploid cells because sex cells combine to provide the 46 necessary chromosomes. Mitosis however, makes diploid cells.
