My Journal: Beneatha Younger May 2, 1952 Walter still doesn't understand that I'm serious about becoming a doctor. Even though Mama and Ruth seem to support me, I still wonder if they share the same doubts as Walter. What they don't understand is that I want to be a doctor more than anything in this world. I want to be able to help people, to heal them. I wonder how long it will take my family to realize how passionate I am about this. Now I'm off to my guitar lesson. This house is quickly becoming too claustrophobic for me.
