Anna Frith
Anna Frith is the young woman who narrates 'Year of Wonders'. The novel follows the year in which Anna's small English village is quarentined in order to prevent the spreading of the plague. In this year, she witnesses sickness and death, pain and insanity. Despite the hardships, this might turn out to be Anna's very own year of wonders.
What Was The Plague?

"Why should they have eachother, when I had no one? I was jealous of both of them at once. Of him, because Elinor loved him, and I hungered for a greater share of her love than I could ever hope for. And yet I was jealous of her, too; jealous that she was loved by a man as a woman is meant to be loved" (Brooks 229).
Anna continues to grow as a person throughout the novel. It seems that she grew up quickly and never truly got the chance to understand who she is. The hardships that are forced upon her, though they force her to grow up, also allow room for her to develop as a human being.
