Reanaissance Research Project
The printing press was invented in 1436 by a German named Johannes Gutenberg. Gutenberg was a goldsmith. Before the printing press was invented, monks had to copy everything by hand. Hand written books took months or years to hand print. This made books very expensive. Ink, movable type, paper, and the press had been invented. Gutenberg creatively combined these inventions to devise the printing press. Gutenberg used the printing press to put ink on hundreds of individual letters. These letters were engraved in slabs of brass. These letters were arranged in words, sentences, then paragraphs. After this stage as many copies as needed could be made quickly. When a different page was needed, the individual letters had to be completely rearranged. The Bible was the first book to be mass produced from the printing press. The printing press was impotant beacuse it allowed books to be printed much faster, which improved the lifestyles of the people living in the reaissance. It allowed less wealthy poeple to purchase books since a lot of book could be made and so they were sold for cheaper.
Galileo was an important astronomer in the renaissance. He has discovered many useful things but the most famous discovery that he has made is probably the theory about how the earth revolves around the sun instead of the sun revolving around the earth. Some people claim that he has invented the telescope but some people say that he stole the invetnion from Holland and made a replica. But even if he didn't make the telescope, he still proved that Copernicus' theory was true. He agreed with Copernicus and his theory because after his studies in florence, he discovered the truth. That contributed to the reanaissance because it made everybody in the renaissance think in another way and look at the universe in a completly different way. He made everyone think of a new possibility and a new world that existed.
Michelangelo was a great artist and sculptor but he had a terrible childhood. His mother died when he was six years old and so he lived his life grim and lacking in affection. After his father realized young Michelangelo's talent, he sent him to study grammar. While he was there, he made a friend six years older than him who encouraged Michelangelo to follow his own artistic vocation. With that inspiration, Michelangelo started his life towards fame. When his talents were recongnized, he attracted the attention of Lorenzo de Medici. When he was only sixteen, he made two relief sculptures. When he was twenty-three, he completed his magnificent Pieta. Shorlty after that, he started on the famous marble statue of David. Michelangelo's paintings gave a different perspective for the people living in the reanaissance. He was also the first artist to sign his name on his pieces because the Pieta was mistaken to be made by a different artist so he wanted to make sure everyone knew he made his famous sculptures.
1. Artist or Sculptor
3. Astronomer
Nicolaus Copernicus was a mathematician and astronomer who had a theory that the sun was in the center of the universe and the earth revolved around it. He grew up in Poland and had a solid education because his uncle was a bishop. Copernicus also made a theory that the earth was on a axis that rotates once daily.. Nobody believed him at first because they all thought Ptolemy's theory where the sun and the other planets revolved around the earth was true. His theory started a change in the worldviews of eberybosy and permanently changed the way people looked at the universe.

2. Scientist
Leanardo was a scientist who observed everything in detail unlike many scientists. He grew up in his father's home so he had access to scholary texts owned by family and guests.Even at a young age, Da Vinci showed great talent as he was an apprentice for the reoowned workshop of Andrea del Verrochio in Florence. His curiosity for science led him to a great future that included famous inventions after he spent many years studying science. His carreer allowed him to invent a helicopter, a tank, the use of concentrated solar power, a calculator, a rudimentary theory of plate tectonics and the double hull. His inventions helped the renaissance because they inproved the life of the preople living in that time. His inventions made life easier for them.
A painting that I think is important to the reaissance is the Mona Lisa.It shows a mosern woman that is unuasual. She is half smiling and half frowning which makes her expressin enigmatic. Her expression is both alluring and aloof. Also, she has no eyebrows which makes her even more unuasual. She was painted by Leanardo Da Vinci. This painting was so important to the reanissance because it had a different style and had a unique point of view and history. It also had a story about an important woman Leanardo knew.
