So... you may think that I'm a little ambitious to have a glog titled 'Potty Training' when my baby is only eight months old. However, you don't know the full story yet! I read, in my child-rearing bible, Gray and Anne-Marie Ezzo's 'Preparation For Parenting' that when a baby goes down for a nap, and wakes up dry, you know that they have the bladder control that it takes to potty train. They suggest not forcing anything, and to take it slow and easy for the child's sake, which I agree with. But... this afternoon, when Kalei woke up from her big nap... she was dry. I had fed her, played with her for a bit, and it had nearly been two hours since she'd been changed. Surely time to pee, soon? I needed to potty myself, so I took her into the bathroom with me, and deciding that it could never hurt to try, I took of Kalei's diaper, and sat her on the toilet. I'm not sure if I expected anything to happen or not, I was more like an intrigued scientist, interested to see the results. BUT GUESS WHAT?! Kalei ACTUALLY peed! I was so happy! I gasped a little - not too loud, but enough to make her stop from letting it all out, but my baby as peed in the toilet for the first time. You can betcha I'll be keeping this up, if I never have to potty train her when she's old enough to fight, I'll be happy!
