Summary To escape Fiona's alcoholic and abusive father, her mother has temporarily moved the family into Aunt Maggie's cramped apartment. Meanwhile, Fiona's friendship with Yolanda is causing tension at home and in school because Fiona is white and Yolanda is black. Now Fiona must decide what is truly important to her and then discover within herself the strength to stand up and fight for it.
