Integers
Subtracting Integers: 1. Flip minus sign to addition. 2. Flip sign of right factor to it's oppisite. 3. Follow the rules of Addition
An Integer is a member of the set of positive whole numbers {1, 2, 3, . . . }, negative whole numbers {-1, -2, -3, . . . }, and zero {0}.
Adding Integers- 1. When adding integers of the same sign, you add their absolute values, and give the result with the same sign 2.With integers of the opposite signs, we take their absolute values, subtract the smaller from the larger, and give the result the sign of the integer with the larger absolute value.
This is a number line with integers on it.
Some Examples: (-11) - (-82) = (+7) x (+3) = (+55) + (-18) = (+9) / (+8) =
1. Amazki had $24 when she was walking to the store , but she lost $6. How much did Amazki have left over?
2. Marcus McBob's paycheck was $654. Later, he found a $20, $50, $5 and $0.50 on the ground. How much did Marcus end up with?
Two Real World Examples:
Mutiplying and Dividing Integers- 1. When signs are the same the answer is always postive. 2. When signs are different the answer is always negative.
