Applicaions of Lenses
Telescope Lenses
What Type of Lenses does it use? Telescopes use two optical surfaces. The two most common types are convex and concave – but other variants exist as well. The diagram on my left uses an objective lens which is convex. A convex lens is used because they are thicker and it makes the image you see more magnified.
What makes them work? Telescopes work when the objective lens of a refractor collects the distant light and brings it to a point of focus. The eyepiece telescope lens then magnifies it which takes up more space on our retina.
What is a telescope lens? It is an object which brings what’s far away up close, so we can see.
