“Aw, Anna, it’s great to see you! I’m so glad you came to visit!” He noticed Mike and held out a hand. “Hi, I’m Lucas, Anna’s brother. You are?” “Oh! I’m Michael, Michael Darville. Anna is my girlfriend, yes.” Michael laughed. “Oh! Oh, I see. That’s great. I’ll be right back; I have to go get the others.” Luke turned and then said. “I’m glad I got to meet you!” After my brother ran up the steps, I stared at Mike. “Wow. That brother of yours… He’s an interesting one.” “Ah yes. Lucas has his moments. Anyway, wait until you meet my sister- she’s amazing!” I said, and just then, she came down the stairs. Gina’s light, creamy colored blond hair was cut to just above her shoulders. Her bangs partially covered her blue eye; her vibrant green eye was uncovered though. She had on a tiny amount of makeup and she was wearing a light blue dress. She saw me, smiled, and half ran to give me a hug. “Oh! Gina, it’s wonderful to see you! You look gorgeous!” I said with my hands on her shoulders. “So do you! It’s been a year and you haven’t even changed!” She glanced over at Mike and her fair skin turned a light pink. “Who’s that?” She whispered to me. “This is Michael Darville, he’s my boyfriend.” “Pleased to meet you.” Gina glanced over her shoulder, and then ran up stairs. “Sorry! Be right back!” Once again Michael and I were alone. “Wow, good looks must run in your family!” He shook his head in amusement. “Oh, it’s an inherited trait alright, you saw my mother. She’s thirty-nine.” I chuckled mildly as my cat Spirit ran to me. She was a big, fluffy angora cat with soft, long, crme colored fur, big green eyes and a mew to melt your heart. I scooped her up and smiled. Michael reached out to pet her; she eagerly smelled his hand, purring. I sat on the sofa just as my mother came down. Gisele Higenov was a stunning woman of thirty-nine. Her hair cascaded down to the middle of her back in long, dark brown curls. She had brilliant green eyes that were covered by a pair of slightly tinted glasses. Her small frame was dressed in a basic, white, short-sleeved chemise, and a casual pair of brown Capri pants. She stopped- shocked to see me, then smiled and came to give me a hug. “I’m so glad you’re here Annabelle! It’s great to see you.” She released me from her hug, and then turned to Michael. “Michael! It’s grand to see you again also!” She shook his hand, then whispered something to him. He nodded earnestly. “Gina! Lucas! Come down stairs! Sergei, you too! Anna is here, come on!” My mother called to the rest of my family. “Oh, Anna, could you go get the dog? She’s in the back yard. I’m sorry Donna won’t be home until about two. She told me to tell you there’s something up on your bed. I don’t know what it is, but she said you’ll like it. Maybe you should go look? I can start making breakfast.” She wandered towards the kitchen. I shrugged and ran up the stairs. My room was the one at the end of the hall. I opened it, and the past washed over me like a wave on the beach of sunny California. I went and plopped myself on the bed, staring out the open window. I breathed in the tangy, sweet salt air, and felt the breeze blow through my brown hair. It wasn’t until then that I saw the large package on my bed. I lifted it up onto my lap, reading the tag. -Annabelle, my niece- Hello! I’ve been expecting you! I planned a party for you tonight; here are a few things for the party! We’re going out to that restaurant you always loved to go to when you stayed here. I also took the liberty of preparing some things for you, they’re in the fridge downstairs. Enjoy! See you soon! -Love, Aunt Donna-
