Love. What is love? To many of us love is the relationship and feeling that an individual has towards another individual. Whether it is girlfriend, boyfriend love, parent and child love or just loving a friend, we always feel that love is shown in a physical way. Love can also be a virtue. Love as a virtue is shown when one loves another like God loves us. Love as a virtue is true love
Love in the church. It can be so different from the love we talk about everyday yet similar in so many ways. Everyday we talk about love. When a girl crushes on a boy we say that it is love, but is it the church’s understanding of love? According to the church, love is true love. Love is when we care about others. Love is patience and the promise of people staying together forever and always. Love can also be the caring for others. Others you have known your whole life, others you have just met or even those who you don't know. Caring is a sign of love because Jesus loved each and every one of us and he cares about us so to such a large extent that I would be impossible to say that he does not love us. Love in the church is what is and always will be.
Compared to Jesus’ love, our love seems insufficient. Our love does not seem like it is true love, does not seem like it is enough however have you thought about those great heroes of our near past? Think of Nelson Mandela. He was imprisoned for years just because he cared for his people. Just because he had not wanted his people to suffer under the white people any longer. Nelson Mandela stood up to the white people because he believed what he did was right. Because he cared about his people and he knew that, what he did was what God wanted him to do. True love is can be found in our world today.
Love in a person can be very easy to find. Every single person has love in a virtual sense inside of them; it’s just if they choose to show it in their everyday life. I myself feel that I do not show that love enough. I attempt to show God’s love toward the others around me however sometimes I feel that it is just to hard to show feelings like that. I like some other individuals do not like to express love through words. I feel that words are sometimes just too hard to say, and even when said, could be easily misunderstood, while actions are what your conscience tells you to do therefore much easier to perform. Either way, love was a gift given to us by God.
Love is one of the ten virtues of God. Every virtue ties in with one another. The other virtues are courage, forgiveness, justice, compassion, faithfulness, hospitality, gratitude, peacemaking and charity. If you got into a fight with someone you love then you would be faithful to them, to not find a new person to replace them. You would have the courage to forgive, be nice and the compassion to bring justice and peace to them. No matter what they did you would forgive them for anything they did. When they are lost you would show hospitality towards them and show them what is to be done. When they accept your apology you feel gratitude because you are happy your relationship has been mended.
