Ok here's our first equation y=x^2-2x-8. The way we are going to solve this problem is by factoring
so how do we solve this? well first you take the equation and you take the the x and stick it a pair of parethasais like this...........(x- )(x+ ) . Since we know it takes a negitive and a positive to multiply and get a negitive so we stick the negitive sign in and a positive sign in. now we find the factors of -8 that add to give us -2. ?*?=-8 ?+?=-2 factors of 8 are 2 and 4because one has to be negitive and one possitive. the bigger always is positive. -4-2=-2. So now we have (4)(x+2)=0. now we take the seperate parts of the eqation and find our y intercepts. x-4=0 x=4 and x+2=0 x=-2 +4 +4 -2 -2 so our anwser is (4,0) and (-2,0).
Your anwser is
(4,o)(-2,0)
