An ovarian cyst is a sac or pouch that develops in or on the ovary, this sac can vary in size but it is a sac that is filled with fluids. They can go unnoticed for several months in some cases but they cause severe abdominal pain, menstral changes and irregular bleeding, infertility, internal bleeding and pain during bowel movements . The cyst cannot be seen from the surface. This effects the ovaries and in some cases the uterus.
The ovarian cyst developes during the menstral cycle of a female. Each month a female will make and drop one egg this egg is enclosed in a sac called a follicle, but if the follicle fail to release the egg the fluid will remain causing an ovarian cyst. This occurs most often in younger woman under 30.

Although these cyst are not preventable they are treatable, most of these go away, disolving on their own, but those that grow abnormally large must be removed surgically.
