The Battle of Alamance ended the War of the Regulation, and many say it began the Revolutionary War. It occured on May 16, 1771 when the British troups of 1,000 men marched by Alamance Creek. This troup was led by William Tyron. The Regulators, who had 2,000 men, confronted these troups and when the Reg-ulators refused to surrrender, William Tyron ordered the troups to fire at the Regula-tors. The Regulators lost the battle and, their rebellion failed.

The Edenton Tea Party
On October 25, 1774 a group of 51 women gathered together and signed an agreement. This agreement stated that the women would boycott all tea, which was imported from Britain, and all British cloth. The group was led by Penelope Barker, who was inspired by the Boston Tea Party. Although the protest was regarded as a joke by the British, it was one of the first steps towards the American Revolution.
