Jazz style clothing quickly passed in and out of the twenties, such suits were considered an expression of passion for jazz music.
The style for younger boys in the 20’s changed from girlish to more casual.
In the 1920's, the tail coat was considered appropriate formal evening wear for men. This style was often worn with a top hat and a starched white shirt underneath.
The men of the Ivy League usually wore narrow-shouldered suit jackets with wide-legged trousers-; which, ironically came to be called the 'cake eaters' suit.
English styles remained the standard for neatly dressed young man of status, but by 1925, many college goers moved onto another extreme style, the 'Oxford Bags.' Oxford Bags were cropped, cuffed pants as wide as 25 inches around the leg. They hung four inches below the knees, and were typically worn with a short jacket.
Knickerbockers were considered appropriate casual wear for well-dressed gentlemen. Knickers were often coordinated with Gentleman's shoes and golf coats.
In the 1920's, men wore suits, with colored shirts and silk ties decorated with small geometric patterns and stripes. On occasion, black bowler hats were worn to complete the look.
Flannel and tweed clothing was popular during this time period,; many clothes were made from these fabrics.
