Fashion of the 1970's
Platform shoes become very popular for both men and women in the 1970's
The theme of the 1970's was anyhting goes, and everyone wanted to be a trend setter. The women wore mini, midi, or maxi dresses. Pants were also starting to become popular with women. Many women wore hot pants to the disco. By the late 1970's women were starting to wear mens clothing, wearing mens neck ties, and fedoras, and other men acessories. It was obvious that fashion was changing everywhere. Mens fashion was changing with designers experimenting with new colors and fabrics. Double-knit, and stretch-knit suits also became very popular. Bright colors, and floral patterns became acceptable for men to wear. The glam style also came into the picture in the 70's with men borrowing girls blouses and even sometime make-up. The 1970's style was inspired by the 60's but with a new twist. It started out like the 60's but then evolved and turned into the glam and disco age.
