DATA ANALYSIS
Data is the key informant to the success of a selected intervention. Analysis is an ongoing activity--three data points are needed to determine action (in order to see a pattern--can be qualitative, quantitative, or combination of both). After intervention is withdrawn, data is still collected to determine if student is still making adequate progress.
Teachers need to negotiate passing criteria together so data analysis can be more uniform. Data analysis should be an inquiry process, not an activity to fulfill a mandate. Assessment and analysis should guide curriculum and classroom experiences. Analysis can help teachers find patterns.
