Eubie Blake
Born in Baltimore on Feb. 7, 1883
Died in Brooklyn, New York City on Feb 12, 1983
His career did not really take off until he met Noble Sissle in 1915.

Then Blake and Sissle teamed up with another duo to create Shuffle Along. The Broadway all-star cast included Josephine Baker, Florence Mills and Paul Robeson.
Without his parents knowing, he began his professional music caeer by playing ragtime piano in Baltimore brothels, honky tonks and bars. He later played in saloons and clubs.
Blake and Sissle started on the musical Shuffle Along in 1916 but they were interrupted by WWI.

The person on the left is Eubie Blake and the person on the right is Sissle.
Eubie Blake's music was a huge impact on the movement because how his music showed the feelings of African Americans during the Harlem Renaissance.
